RIDE FOR ROSWELL

MONDAY:
A beautiful day.  After all the in house work, Bob and I went swimming in the pool for the first time this season.  The pool temp is at 82o and so nice.  We enjoyed the sun too!

SPLISH, SPLASH, I'M AS HAPPY AS A DUCK!

THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD YEAR FOR FLOWERS.  I THINK THIS IS A WISTERIA VINE.
  TUESDAY:
Another beautiful day!  Wow!  I went to the store early for more cards.  Then to the Veggie Stand.  I just had to have some strawberries before they are all gone.  I made a pie that was delicious.

About noon a farmer started disking the field out back, there goes our clean porch blinds and our pool.  It's so dry the dust was blowing terrible.  It is now 9:30pm and the farmer is still out there working.
LOOK AT THE DUST!
WEDNESDAY:
Our day was spent in Rochester.  Dr's appointment, lunch and shopping.  It rained like mad, so at least I wasn't moaning about not being home to  use the pool.  That evening I sat on the porch to watch for deer.  I was scanning the far woods and saw one large deer and two smaller ones.  Then I noticed movement in grass field near us; another large deer.  I always enjoy seeing them.
THURSDAY:
Bob left early to go take his quarterly blood test.  I did some hand wash, then made a coffee cake.
I put a few things in the coach for this weekend @ Ride for Roswell.
After lunch I worked on making two decorated money trees.  Friends of ours will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in July.  The trees are nice table decorations so I wanted them done and sent with the daughter to place them on the tables.

I used gold coins tied in the net pieces.  (Sacajawea)
About 4:00pm we left for Buffalo, it was a muggy 86o.   The sky was dark, and the further we drove the darker it became.  Around Pembroke, a down pour started, more black skies and lighting.   We wanted to check out the University of Buffalo campus (parking assignment) and to pick up our registration packets.  We met David at the IHOP restaurant for supper.  Annalynn came to give us one packet she had picked up for a friend who will be coming in with us.   David  then escorted us over and around UB.  We now have a good idea of where to park and where all the events will be.
FRIDAY:
Today we go to UB.  (University of Buffalo)  We picked up a few fresh bread items at the store, loaded the last few items needed and waited till my friend came with her bike.  We loaded the bike and the three of us took off at 2:30pm.  We didn't have much traffic and we arrived at our lot for parking before the rush.  There was activity all night: people coming and going.  Golf carts transporting foods, people etc.   Some people left their cars there so they could ride from Roswell and have transportation once done with the ride.  We went to the Union Center to pick up our packets and t-shirts.  We were going to sit outside but it rained!
Saturday morning @ 7:15am, Bob and I went to the finish line.  My friend, Mo remained at coach to shower.  Debbie, Rocco, Christianna and Joe rode from Roswell to UB. (12 miles)  I heard Christianna say, "There's Grandma!".  Otherwise, I would never have picked them out of the crowd coming in.  All those t-shirts alike!

HERE THEY COME!  THE RIDE FROM ROSWELL STARTED AT 6:30AM.

CHRISTIANNA, DEBBIE, ROCCO & JOE  THE FIRST 12 MILES.  THEY RODE 42 MILES FOR THE DAY!

CHRISTIANNA & JOE    RIDERS WHO RAISED $1000.00 RECEIVED  THESE COLORFUL SHIRTS.
At 8:30am, the 30 mile ride was to start.  An unknown called my phone.  My friend was locked in the motor home!  She had called someone in the parking lot to her aid.  I thought oh no, after coming here on Friday, she is going to miss the ride.  I guess she didn't listen to my instructions in the excitement.  She did make it.
There was a 20 mile ride and an 8 mile ride.  However the course was laid out and the timing; everyone blended together and three and a half hours later, the entire pack of riders crossed the finish line.  Riders in every age, on all kinds of bicycle vehicles!  Even dogs in baskets!   On a sad note, several members of Team Annalynn was not able to participate as their father (Bill) was hospitalized at Roswell on Thursday.  Our prayers go out to all of them.

MY FRIEND MO -   HER FIRST 30 MILE RIDE!  SHE HAS DONATED PLATELETS SINCE ANNALYNN'S DIAGNOSIS.  (TEAM ANNALYNN SHIRTS)

ANNALYNN (in her survivor shirt) GIVING HER GRATITUDE SPEECH.  GRATEFUL FOR ROSWELL!
We heard there was 7800 registered riders.  Team Annalynn had 64 riders.  President of Roswell,  Donald Trump, said they had made their goal of 3 million $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.    Team Annalynn had raised close to $11,000.00.   This was an extra ordinary event for us to see.  Thousands of volunteers, shuttles all day, any kind of food (free) donated, vehicles, tents and equipment donated.  What a great community.  Our thanks to everyone who participated, and donated to our efforts!

ME AND JOE'S GRANDMA ROSALIE   WE ARE COLD!   WAITING FOR THE GROUP PHOTO.

RELAY FOR LIFE WEEKEND

MONDAY:
After being away there is so much work to do.  I couldn't decide what to work on first.  My decision was to do something easy while I put the biggie vacation washing thru.  I wrote out a get well card, wedding rsvp's,  and updated my reading file.
I photo copied the HRRVC Rally form and filled it out for reservations for the rally in September.  Just a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that needs done and I needed to discipline myself to take the time necessary to do it.
We didn't watch the Bruins game but we are glad that they won.  If they win on Wednesday, Boston will hosts a big parade that Sarah can attend.
TUESDAY:
Flag Day-I didn't remember that!  It was supper time before I saw it on the news.  There's no use putting it up then as we do not have a light to shine on it once it's dark.
I must have deleted 150 e-mails on the computer that had come in while we were away.  Coupons, cooking, stores sales, etc.; hardly any messages.  Internet was $8.00 a day at Lake George and I couldn't figure out when I'd be at the coach long enough to use it so we never signed up.
I had Holiday Rambler paper work to do.  I briefed up a letter for brochures or donations for the September HRRVC Rally, then e-mailed a few of them to businesses.   Then I worked on updates on the HRRVC Roster; which I mailed to the officers.
At 3:00, I couldn't see anymore and I needed to stretch from working on computer so I decided to go out doors.  I pulled weeds in the stone driveway again, I probably went two feet in two hours.

MY ROSE BUSH IS PRETTY!
 WEDNESDAY:
We need dog food!  I picked up a few other things at BJ's too.  I was shopping for a get well, a birthday gift and greeting cards.  BJ's didn't have what I wanted for either gift so we went to Kmart. Then to Wal-Mart, Mischa!
Annalynn sent an e mail today about the RELAY FOR LIFE event this weekend.  They are doing a special walk at 12:30am with Crazy Hats.   Guess I'll dig out my RED HAT stuff.

I CAN HEAR YOU ALL LAUGHING!  I NEED RED OR PURPLE SHOES YET.
The kids have gifted me with all kinds of stuff over the years: long red gloves, purse, jewelry, boa, cowboy hat, sweatshirts, arm cuffs-you name it.  Last year we were in bed by 12:30 am!

Bob & David  have a photo meeting tonight in Buffalo for the RIDE FOR ROSWELL event.  (6/25/2011) There are several volunteer photo people that have to be assigned an area to capture the heart of things.  ROSWELL has certain requests for posters and the like.  I have to get out a quick supper so he can leave by 5:00pm.
I gave my outside plants a good soaking. Later, Betsy and I watched the hockey game.  Yeah to the Bruins!

IT'S OFFICIAL!

Bob came home about 10:ish.  He had a packet of instructions, and a cute tye on vest that says, "photographer" on the back.  He was all hyped up!

THURSDAY:
I kinda slept in today.  Now to hussel and get the list of jobs done.  I baked two kinds of cookies, had a coffee clutch with a friend, and started to pack the motor home.  I thought once I had finished in the kitchen that I could go in the pool for the first time.  That was not to be-it rained.
While Bob was changing the blinds on the back porch, we were surprised with a call from Camping World district manager who had received my e-mail request.  They were more than willing to donate to our rally.  They will supply goddie bags, a discount coupon, and flyers.  For the HRRVC STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP auction they have promised 2 chairs. (no description)   He would set things up with the Churchville store manager.  When the Cville store manager called he promised additional items.  Yes!  High 5!  The day flew by so for supper we went to Miss Batavia Restaurant for our favorite roast beef meals.  Later the rain had stopped and it cooled down some; so we both started bringing stuff out to motor home.
FRIDAY:
Picked up fresh hot dog rolls and few other items at grocery store then loaded every thing in the coach.  Then we packed refrigerator   items from the house.  We left for Lockport about 2:30; and drove right to the school for parking.  Christianna met us there and arranged parking spot with chair lady.  Then we all went to Deb's. house.  The girls were putting rubber bands on t-shirts for tye dye.

TIE DYE SHIRTS/RELAY FOR LIFE
They came out pretty good, nice bright color after the next step of drying.  Then they wanted to put a print on them with the YUDU machine.  Annalynn had cut a stencil off the computer.

THE STENCIL IS BURNED ON.
Annalynn had watched the demo video which left out some instructions.  I read the direction book which left out alot.  It was hem and hah with debates to correct usage.  Everyone had an opinion of how to do it.  Joe says, "just do it!"
IT'S ALL TAPED.

SQUEEZING THE INK ON

IT WORKED! IT WORKED!
So when they lifted the lid and pulled the first shirt off the machine; pandemonium broke out!  They were ecstatic!  Whopping and hollering!

ONE OF THE FINISHED SHIRTS
Bob and I went back to motor home about 10:00 and the girls worked on until 12:30.

SATURDAY:
Up early for showers and dress to get to our posts for pictures of the 5K run of RELAY FOR LIFE.

BLOWING THE HORN TO START THE RACE
Annalynn was invited to be honorary front runner, to blow the horn to start the race.

THEIR OFF!

PUMPING HARD TO BETTER HER TIME.

Stephanie, Christianna, 2 girls from Juicy store, Debbie and Rocco
Debbie and Maggie had already finished the race but crossed over the track to run in with this group.  About 2:30 we helped to set up the Surace's tent down inside the track.  Team tent vendors all around selling products.  It was well organized with good live entertainment.

Bill, Mary (Joe's Mom) Delores (Bill's wife) Annalynn
The survivor's walk was first, followed by survivor's and care takers, then the 96 registered teams.

TEAM ANNALYNN

Later the Illuminary Lap was done with bag pipes and some lights out.
ILLIMINARY LAP
During an announcement, it was stated that the event had netted $91,000.00 so far, hoping to make $200,000.00. More for research!

SUNDAY:
Bob heard noises outside the motorhome.  Debbie and Rocco had packed up everything and was leaving for home.   We weren't even up yet @ 7:00am.  I will have to call them later to find out who made it thru the night, who wore the crazist hat, and who walked in the illuminary (carrying candles) memorial walk.  At that time, most of the team tents were down and gone; no longer a tent city!

In between events this weekend, I finished the book "Water For Elephants", by Sara Gruen; that my coffee clutch friend lent to me.  A good read about one person's life in the circus.

Now to prepare for next weekend.   Wishing a good week to everyone.  Thanks for clicking in.

LAKE GEORGE AMERICADE

MONDAY:
What a beautiful day!  Not much wind, and temp at 77o.   I hung all my hand washing outside to dry.
My sister left for Pennsylvania about 9:15am.   We helped to load her car and make sure she had her ice chest with water.  We had a very nice visit.

Bob spent the morning calling for the motor home windshield motor.  He also had calls to make on the refrigerator in motor home as all of a sudden it shows up with a red light.   All contacts think it's a faulty recall part.  So Bob re-wired it back to the original format. It will take 2 weeks to get a new part. This is the second recall fixture going bad, hope they get it together soon!

I read e mails, printed a menu for our trip, paid a few bills, and put the washing thru.   Later Betsy called, she had heard from K-Mart, the high table was delivered today.  I can't believe it!  After Betsy came home from work, we went to K-Mart to pick it up.  Betsy was going to insist on the sale price from May but she didn't need too as the manager had taken care of that and gave us a gift card for $25.00 for all our inconvenience driving to different stores and then waiting for delivery.  It is now assembled and it looks great on the pool patio.  The manager, Chris Chase, mentioned that he went to school with our son David.  I wonder if Dave remembers him?

New high table for pool patio.
TUESDAY:Busy day,  going for groceries and packing clothes in the motor home.
WEDNESDAY:
We left home about 9:35 and drove up to the college to hook up the car.  Once the hitch and all lights were checked, we started off for Lake George and the Americade.  (Biker Rally)
Shortly after passing the Victor intersection we saw a State Trooper trying to change a tire on his car.  Then the CB’ers started talking; “that cop  wouldn’t be chasing anyone for a while!”  Much later in our drive the CB let out a big long, loud screech.  We were scared and stunned as to what was happening; wondering what part was falling apart now.  Then Bob realized it was the CB.  We were already upset that Gypsy (GPS) wasn’t working right.  She kept telling us directions to turn around and go to Rochester.  Garbage in-garbage out!
By 2:30pm it was so hot in the coach that I asked Bob to turn the generator on so we could run the coach air conditioner.  It was 96o outside.  Another clue, I had noticed Bob starting to push his hair back on his head; it’s time for more cool air!  (Maybe that’s why he is so bald.) All the farm animals along the way were seeking shelter in what ever shade they could find.
We had six construction areas; many were cross over lanes to fix bridges.  The one near Utica was between two exits, for 17 miles.  The most confusing was the “round about”on Route 87.  (Known in NJ as a jug handle)  It was a double circle with double lanes, we felt like drivers were coming at us from all sides.

Site 420 Beautiful camp ground.

We arrived at Lake George RV Park about 4:00pm.   I made my call home to say we had arrived safely while Bob went in the camp office to register.  We found our site and proceeded to set up.  The tow car has to be removed first and it wouldn’t start!  What a Bummer!  We called AAA and they were very good about getting help to us within an hour.  They used jumpers and it started right up.  The serviceman said to let it run for a half hour.  So I prepared supper.  After dinner, we drove around the campground, looking at all the big rigs, motorcycles and tow trailers.  The campers that have a large back door which becomes a ramp to drive motorcycles up and in are known as Toy Boxes.   There are several here.   A big dark storm came up with thunder and lightening so we returned to the coach.
THURSDAY:
Up at 7:00am, all excited to get going.  I made bacon and eggs for breakfast which is probably the second time since we have owned the coach.  Bob went out to try the car-it wouldn’t start.  Click, click, and click!
Luckily, he found a pair of jumper cables in coach storage and he wanted to charge the car but it was to far away.  So he snagged a couple guys coming from the shower hall to help him push it close to camper.  The guys thought we had a bad cell in the battery.  They questioned if we had used a Brake Buddy which would have drained the battery.  Of course we do use one.  After the charge, off to Wal-Mart we went.  I had looked up the age of battery in Quicken to find out that we had purchased it in 2005.  It had out lived it’s warranty period by a long ways.  After the battery was installed and shopping at Wal-Mart we stopped in a bakery that was out of this world!  I knew that we would return there a couple times.  They had 16 bakers!  We really enjoyed their fresh baked cinnamon buns.

EVERY DRIVE DOWNTOWN-MANY BIKERS!

It was hot again by the time we drove to the Holiday Inn to pick up our boat cruise dinner tickets.  There we were told that we needed the wrist band to board the boat and they did not want to give us our tickets because we were registered under David and Donna’s name.   You guessed it, Bob continued to talk, talk and talked  them down and he got the tickets and the wrists bands.

Parking field for bikers (it was so big it took 2 shots to get it all.)

Later we drove by the lake and exhibit area.  There were thousands of bikes in the parking field.  Thousands!  Just like bees, coming and going!  What a sight to see.  (Then another rain storm)

DAVID & DONNA

Donna called about 3:25pm and told us they all (six of them-dubbed the 6-pack) were at the Holiday Inn picking up their packets.  They had a safe trip with rain so they were soaked.  We would meet them at the boat dock at 6:00pm.

Fire Dancer

We took the shuttle downtown because there weren’t parking spaces anywhere-so many bikers.  The boat cruise was fun, dinner was fair, and entertainment was a great Hawaiian band that
included Hula dancers and a fire baton dancer.  And, again rain!  So when the boat docked we shuttled back to camp.  The 6- Pack went to see the bikes with lights parade.

FRIDAY:
We headed off to the bakery for breakfast!  We had bacon, eggs, pancakes and home fries!  Then we bought some more cinnamon buns!  They are delicious.

TRIKE: '57 CHEVY  MODEL
Returning we stopped at Boss Hoss vendor display and checked out some bikes and trikes.  I wanted a ride but I’m too cheap to pay the $50.00 per person per ride.  The rest of the day we drove around the lake taking photos and stopped at different vendors on way back to camper.

THE 6 PACK: KEN & DEBBIE, DAVE, DAVID & DONNA, AND JOANN.
After vendors, the 6-pack drove up the Prospect Mountain trail for the view of the area.
COO COO CLOCK FROM GERMANY

We joined the 6-pack at 5:00pm for wine at their lodge and later went to a German restaurant for dinner.  What a treat to have potato pancakes.  After we returned to the coach to watch the bikers come and go while they (6-pack) went on to the fireworks display.  (I have seen so many fireworks, not interested)

MAIN STREET PARKING-BOTH SIDES OF STREET!

SATURDAY:
At 6:00am, I woke up to hear a hard rain hitting the roof of coach.  Not another day of rain!  Bikers were leaving the campground already.  We had our back to basic oatmeal breakfast.  The 6-pack had appointments at vendors for installing their purchases on their bikes so we went to the malls and outlet stores.   We wanted to do some fishing while here, Bob bought our licenses and packed all the rods-darn rain.   We did drive around Lake Glen.  It’s just been to exciting here, Bob has over 300 photos already.
Back at the coach, I’m typing my Blogger while Bob is taking a nappie!  I have to get up and fix a cheese tray as the 6-pack is coming to the coach for 4:00pm cocktails.   We have dinner reservations at the Log Jam Restaurant tonight which is just around the corner from this campground.  I’m staying up until 12:00am tonight to see if I get a call about winning the bike raffle.  David said, “Donna will drive it home if we are winners!”
SUNDAY:
On The Road Again! 9:40am.  Cloudy, Cool, Damp.  Time to head home.   As usual, the time passes much to quickly.  When we left this morning, wearing jeans, I wondered if I should have set out shorts if it should get warm but so far it's a cool ride and I'm covered up with my Steeler's blanket.  We passed two flood control thingies on the Mohawk River that are spilling over their tops.  Good thing the motor for the windshield wipers came in before we left so Bob had time to install them.  They are very much in demand today.
Well, no phone calls last night, guess we are not the winners of the bike raffle.  We stopped at Turning Stone Casino area to fill up the gas tank-$4.09 for diesel at "Save On Diesel" station.  The 6-pack called, they are one exit ahead of us.  We arrived home at 4:00pm.  The fun is over.  We will be unpacking, cleaning the coach, and repacking to prepare to take off for the LLS-RELAY FOR LIFE  in Lockport starting Friday night. (Team Annalynn to walk the track all night)

We have had a great week, it's always fun making memories.

Have a great week everyone.  Thanks for clicking in!

AN ACTIVE WEEK!

MONDAY:
The whole family was up bright and early to say good by to Sarah.  Sarah and her friend had loaded her car Sunday night, so they could take off early for Boston-7:00am!  They made the trip without any problems and without alot of traffic, much to our surprise with the holiday.
Loaded to the roof!

Sarah & Tiffany ready to take off for Boston.
I went back to bed!  When I got up Betsy was busy spray painting the lounges to match the new pool table.  It was hot and muggy out.
Bob had started mudding on the ceiling in the downstairs bath.  So, I started the Monday schedule...washing, etc. Ugh!
Debbie came over in the afternoon for a visit and to pick up the YUDU machine that we picked up at Michael's.  She shared events of their trip to New York City.

TUESDAY:
After my coffee, I went out to plant some impatiens before it got to hot.  I like a border of them along the garage and near my garden by pool filter.  I used to put marigolds in to ward off the mosquitos (so they say) but we have an adorable chipmunk family that just love marigolds.  Two years ago, I planted the marigolds twice because the chips sniped them right off.   Enough of that stuff.
Then I pulled weeds in the shade by the motor home.  I can't stand weeds in the stone driveway.  It just looks unkempt.  I didn't make much of a dent in it.  Hay, I have the whole summer and once the pool is warm I can cool off every now and then. Because it was so hot, we went to Bob Evan's for supper.  They have the best cheeseburgers.  After this I pulled more weeds until the bugs started biting.
WEDNESDAY
Bob and I had our coffee in the garage to access the work for the neighborhood garage sale this Saturday.  We figured out a floor plan and then started dragging the marked boxes down out of storage.  Then the pricing-lots of work but if they carry the stuff away then I'm happy.
In the afternoon, I went for groceries and Bob had returns for Home Depot and Lowe's.   On the way back home we stopped at Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to ask for handouts or anything available for our Holiday Rambler camping rally in September.  They gave us NY St. Maps, Genesee Cty. Maps, a Dining Brochure, and a Visitors guide booklet.  A good start for the welcome or goody  bags.
It was so windy today a person could hardly walk.  What's with this strange weather?  Bob moved all the patio chairs into the garage again.
THURSDAY:
My sister arrived at 9:15am.  We unloaded her car, visited, had lunch and then drove over to Melton Shoe Factory to shop.  We both found a pair of shoes each for $20.00.
During the afternoon, we worked on baskets for a benefit dinner this Sunday.  We have 6 all finished.  They are so pretty.
CUPCAKE FIXINGS!

ANOTHER CUPCAKE FIXINGS BASKET.

BATH BEAUTY SUPPLIES
In the evening, we painted designs on wine glasses.  Betsy painted glasses for Christianna's wedding shower.   We couldn't think of any designs to begin painting, so we just went ahead with lines and squiggles.  After doing a couple glasses, ideas came easier.  After painting we had to bake them.  That was a fun evening.

CRAFT CLASSES.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT AFTER BAKIING.

BETSY'S PROTOTYPE; THINK THE BRIDE-TO- BE WILL LIKE THE SMILY FACE?
FRIDAY:
After breakfast, we started baking.  I had promised to help make desserts for the benefit dinner.  (48 cupcakes, 4 pans of brownies) In the first batch of cupcakes, we had added Solo Almond paste to the batter.  We filled two trays and had batter left over, so rather than bake a pan with a few cupcakes, I added the batter to the same pans.  Oh, what a mess it made while baking,  the batter went up and over onto the pans. The cupcakes look like muffins!   We had to scrape them off the pans.  They taste very good but look messy!  Not a good start.  We finished with it all about 4:00pm,  just in time to start supper.

CUPCAKES AND BROWNIES
We had a glass of wine in our hand painted glasses.
Bob worked all day on getting garage sale items out.
SATURDAY:
The garage sale was to open at 8:00am.  We were up and moving stuff out into driveway around 7:00am. and we had customers coming already.  We had two big pool side tables and chairs that we wanted to sell plus two tables full of miscellaneous junk.  Once that was all out, my sister and I went to see all the other garage sales.
There must have been 13 or so neighbors with stuff out.  The street was loaded with traffic but not as heavy as last year when a fight broke out and the police had to be called.  Our son and his wife popped in to use Bob's router machine as they are changing wood work in one of our grandson's bedrooms.  David helped Bob to get the windshield wiper motor out of the motor home which quit working.  (Ride em & Fix em) They brought donuts so we enjoyed those with our coffee.
Once it rained, the traffic slowed down so my sister and I hurried off to the kitchen and made the Apple Cuts (apple pie on a cookie sheet) for the benefit dinner. Our tables sold and we were so glad, plus alot of the junk so there wasn't alot of clean up after 5:00pm.   We finished the evening with pizza for dinner and later drove to the ice cream stand for a treat!
SUNDAY:
We had breakfast and all of us started getting ready to go to the dinner.  (Benefit for Bill @ 1:00pm)  We loaded up our 48 cupcakes, 4 pans of Brownies, the Apple Cuts and the 6 auction baskets.  They had a wonderful turn out, over 400 dinners were sold.  They had two  50-50 Raffles, the charity baskets, and two trips with room, board and meals near the Thousand Islands.  The silent auction had big donations like bar-b-cue grills, Buffalo Bills' helmet, Buffalo Bills' jersey, Sabers' jersey, a kayak, bar stools and many other items.  Nope, we didn't win any.   The MC was great entertainer, he had a cute contest that he requested the audience's participation.  A good ice breaker type of a thing.
Once at home, Bob and Betsy mowed the lawn before more rain starts again.  This completes the week, time to start plans for the next one.  We will be on the road, heading for Lake George and the Americade.  So I need to plan a menu and I'm the one who hates to cook!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a good week and make lots of memories.  Thanks for clicking in!
