POOL CLOSING

MONDAY:
Good morning world!  Geeze, I slept pretty good, even if the Steelers lost last night.  Do they really think that "TROY" can do all the work?  I just have to order one of Troy's new T-shirts- the running body with the hair a flying.  Hay, he supports the veterans and that makes it A-OKAY by me, hair or no hair!

Camping clothes are tumbling in the washer, dinner place mats in the dryer, good start.
I have checked the e-mails; it's always fun to see who has read or commented on my Blog, it inspires me to continue.  And, for once Bob isn't yelling for me - "Caroline, Caroline!  Aah, Peace!

Well, come to find out he is all upset with the door on the motor home.  I thought he was going to tell me it was crooked or dented from the rain storms at camp but he is all upset that there are streaks on the inside door finishing.  He says acid rain did it.  Okay Bob!  Who knows anything about acid rain?  He is going to try some leather polish but he thinks that finishing liner is plastic.  So he will probably spend some time on that and stay out of my hair.  Yes!  Nope, in he comes and wants me to sew the awning strap back together.  Oh no, I'm not breaking a needle, I said, take it to the Sterling Canvas company.  I'd have to sew over the plastic point that goes in the awning tube.

Tops grocery store sent me the new ads by e-mail.  Ya know what, it's a lot easier to read the ads on computer; they are brighter.  I do have my glasses on!   I have to find time to study it and see what I can get for my college students.  No rhyme or reason; the first grandchild that comes to visit Grandma can poke thru the box.  Last night,  Alex picked threw the two boxes of grub that I have set aside for "college students."  He isn't a student now but he is unemployed as the brewery laid him off.   What ever is Free, 2-fer or BOGO, on sale or that I have a coupon for goes in the boxes.  It takes the drudgery out of grocery shopping for me.
TUESDAY:
The morning didn't go so good as I screwed up my checkbook on line.  I had to call Bob to help straighten it out.  I hit delete by accident and lost a debit.  Hoa, Hoa.  Then he decided to reconcile the statements and that wouldn't balance.  His idea of balancing is to make an adjustment, never mind hunting down the problem.  Okay, Bob!

The afternoon wasn't much better.  After lunch I wanted to go outside and put in a couple hours of getting pool stuff put away.  I can't do much lifting but let me do what I can, flower pots, decos, etc.

CLEANING OUT THE FLOWER POTS.

Bob was not too happy with me as he wanted to lay down.  He had already washed the car and swept the camper.  So understandable.  I didn't ask him for help.  Grudgingly, he joined in and we worked till I had to start supper.  Once Betsy was home she helped and we have all the furniture stored under the deck and are ready to do the pool closing tomorrow.  A big job done.

CINDER'S FAVORITE SPOT SITTING IN THE SUN WHILE WE WORK.
WEDNESDAY:
We were busy all day.  One thing and another but you can't see a job done, until after supper when we all worked on the pool closing.  That Elephant Cover gets harder to put on each year.  Good thing we have Betsy to help us.

LINING UP THE TIE DOWN STRAPS

I LIKED THE REFLECTION IN THE WATER.

ONCE BOB PUTS HIS SIZE 13'S ON THE STRAP, THEY GO DOWN!  POOR BETSY, SHE DOES THE HARD PART.

ALL DONE FOR THIS SEASON.

IT WAS ALMOST DARK WHEN  BOB TOOK THIS  PHOTO.

THURSDAY:
Not much to write about.  I was up early and baked a coffee cake, then went for groceries.  Cleaned the upstairs in the afternoon.  Same ole, same ole.
Donna wrote, Alex received his orders to report to the Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma on October 31st.  The Sky Boy will begin his dreams.
FRIDAY:
We went downtown to do a couple errands.

BURGER KING HAS A NEW FACE LIFT.
THE FARMER'S MARKET

DECORATIONS FOR FALL ON MAIN STREET

WHAT ARE THESE THINGS?

TOMATOES FOR CANNING  $20.00/BUSHEL

The Farmer's Market is smaller than previous years.  But they still have nice produce.  Cukes are .50 each compared to .99 at Tops Market.   Bob went with me to help carry the bushel of tomatoes.  Betsy will help me do the canning tomorrow.  We love to put basil right in the canning jars; then when you make spaghetti sauce it's all ready flavored.

The afternoon was cooler and then it started raining.  Our bedroom was a shambles so no better time to clean than while it's cool.

I made a small shank ham for supper with sides; can't wait to grind some
and make a ham spread for sandwiches.

We watched a little TV and then started setting up for canning tomorrow before going to bed.

SATURDAY:
Bob called me EARLY this morning because Betsy was already in the kitchen and she had the canning pot heating, jars in the dishwasher, and ready to scald the tomatoes for canning.  Yipes!   It was chilly outside and she had some of the doors and windows open so the kitchen would stay cool.

NASTY JOB BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT!

Aren't they pretty!  We ended up with 19 quarts out of the bushel.  We were done before 11:00 and Betsy could go get ready for her football game.  Never thought it would go so fast.  However, it's not enough for the year.
  • A mathematical problem for my bright readers:
  • If I want to serve spaghetti, or LaSagna or stuffed shells at least once a week for the year.
  • And it takes 8 quarts of tomatoes to make the sauce each time.
  • We usually have one dinner and freeze 5 dishes from a batch of sauce.
  • How many quarts do I need to can for the year?
Don't ask me as I haven't figured it out yet.

well, that's enough mess to clean up for today.  Nappie time!

SUNDAY:
Well, it happened again.  When I got up Betsy was in the kitchen banging away!  We had planned to make sauce today and she had everything started.
She used 10 quarts of tomatoes this time and we had 5 lb of hamburg for the meatballs.  Big pot full!    We cooked it all day and had it for dinner.  Umm!
After supper Betsy announced "that's enough for me, I'm all tomatoed out!"  I agree.

We watched both football games today and that's a bit much.  However, happy that Buffalo and Pittsburgh won.  I missed watching Troy as he is out with injuries.  In between, we drilled the wine bottles for the Leukemia Fund raising.

I also made a grocery list. We are camping the next two weekends at Rallies so I had to figure out how many meals are provided and what  meals I have to cook.

I'm not sure if we will have WIFI at camps; so posting may not happen.   Hopefully, our schedule will be busy and it won't be boring.

Hope you all have a good week and again, thanks for clicking in.
