LAST WEEK OF JULY ALREADY!

MONDAY:
I had an appointment in Rochester at 2:15pm today for the rest of my tests for my annual physical.  You know how that breaks up a day?   After and while we were in Rochester we visited an old time friend in the hospital.  We arrived back home at 6:00pm.  We had a light supper and started to get ready to go to Lockport tomorrow.  Annalynn and I are making  fancy covered apples as a trial run for a brides' favor and to see if we can do it as pretty as the picture.  I had to do some research as I had asked Bob to cut some dowels for the project to save money.  Most apples available on the internet have 5-1/2 inch sticks.
Bob cut the dowels  and sanded a point on them.  Bob is also gathering up his electric tools as Debbie asked him to move a couple outlets in the new outdoor kitchen that Rocco is building.  Rocco is a master craftsman!
It's now 10:30pm and time to head to bed.  I'm reading a book by Dean Koontz called Intensity.  It's gruesome with horrible killings.  I keep asking myself why I keep reading it?  Must be because of the mystery!

TUESDAY:
I'm on high speed this morning: 6:00am and I'm making chocolate chip cookies to bring to Lockport for our lunch treat!  We left home at 10:00am, headed for Lockport.  We drove in Debbie's yard and saw that Christianna's car was home.  Hmmm?  Christianna is on vacation all week.  Coffee was made and we had a discussion on all the wedding questions; invitations, shower, bringing the motor home for the week, etc.  We paged thru the internet looking for a dress for Grandma Caroline.  We picked a color (secret) and found one....it's so pretty.  By then it was lunch time and Bob took our orders and Annalynn's coupon and headed off for our favorite lunch-TED'S HOT DOGS AND FRIES!  After, Annalynn and I went to the basement kitchen and started the candy apples.

WHAT A PHOTO!  SAD SACK!  I'M UNWRAPPING THE CARMEL'S.

ANNALYNN IS GOING TO WRAP THE STICKS WITH PRETTY RIBBON.

WE DIPPED WITH CARMEL FIRST.  AS WE WORKED THE CARMEL DROPPED TO BOTTOM OF APPLE IN A PUDDLE.  NOT GOOD!

DIPPING WITH WHITE & DARK CHOCOLATE WORKED BEST.

WE HAVE TO WORK SOME TO MAKE IT LIKE THIS ONE WE ARE COPYING.

ROCCO HAS THE FRAME UP FOR THE OUTDOOR KITCHEN.  THE GRILL WILL BE MOUNTED IN THE CORNER WITH A ROOF OVER IT.

DEBBIE IS LAYING TILE ON THE CEMENT PICNIC TABLE,   DOESN'T IT LOOK LIKE GPA ICY'S WORK.  HE INSPIRED US ALL!
Supper at home was a quick sloppy Joe sandwich made with Cream of Mushroom soup which bothered both of us all night.  Bob & Betsy mowed the lawn to get rid of the weeds sticking up.  I checked my e-mails, very sombering news from afar.  I tried to remember the new site Annalynn showed me; I forgot the name.  It's pin it or something..  Then I worked on the word scramble puzzle in the Penny Saver and then retreated to my gruesome book to finish the night.
WEDNESDAY:
After a fit full night, I'm slowly coming awake.  I have my decaf on the porch.  I'm retired.  It's Wednesday.  Betsy has dinner out tonight so I don't have to plan a meal as "MISS BATAVIA RESTAURANT" here we come.  What do I need to do today?   I hear big construction equipment; are they starting the development behind our house?  This decaf isn't doing it; I need to dump it and get some "HIGH OCTANE" coffee.  Holy Cow!  It's 9:45am and Bob isn't up and he has a meeting at 10:00am.  Oh my!
I printed lots of photos of the recent wedding to give to friends who couldn't attend.  Plus pushing the washing thru and a few other computer jobs.  When Bob returned he checked out the construction noise.  A neighbor is putting in an above ground pool.  Back home Bob started working on replacing the pump housing for the filter system.  He didn't have alot of room to work with all the pipes.  It was several hours later when he was satisfied that everything was working correctly.  He is going thru these projects pretty fast; what will I keep him busy with the rest of the week?  I shouldn't worry as I'll jinx something.

THE BLACK THING IS THE NEW PUMP HOUSING.
THURSDAY:
We have appointments for hair cuts today.  The beauty shop was busy.  Everyone getting shorter hair cuts to beat the heat.  I want a wash & wear style.  A couple more cuts and it will be all one length.  I hate perms that kink and dry out my hair.  Right now I kinda look like a Scarecrow with short lengths.  We had a big lunch at a nearby place and it was way too much food.  Feeling stuffed we didn't want to work on anything once back home.  Bob napped and I finished my book.
After we both went outside to work.  He started to work on the colored light for the pool.  He fitted cords together so we would have a pull thru once the old light was removed.  The electric cord on the new light was heavier duty than our broken light and it wouldn't go thru the pipe .  That turned into a "muscle job".   I tugged and he pushed.  No way!  Then Betsy came home and she pulled. Then the pull thru pulled apart!  So re- thread it.  They finally removed the ground wire to make more room in the pipe and tried to push all thru at once.  Success!    The funniest thing-Bob was in the water for some time fishing the wires thru piping.  He told me to move the Creepy Crawler away as it kept bumping into him.  So I did.  When the project was finished and Bob went in to shower -a small frog fell out of his trunks.  He didn't see it.  Betsy went in the bathroom next and she let out a scream!  What's in here!  So they figure it was the frog jumping around in Bob's trunks instead of the Creepy Crawler bumping him.  Following the rain, he found about 10 small frogs in and around the pool.

THE LIGHT IS JUST CHANGING TO PURPLE NOW.
FRIDAY:
This morning we cleaned house! UGH!  Every now and then it has to be done.  It's always worth the effort too.  Our friends who just celebrated their 50th anniversary are in town and they are coming over for a visit.  Betsy found a new freezer pie recipe and we made it up last night so I have that to serve.  Chocolate, Starbuck's coffee, sour cream, whipped cream-495 calories per 1/8 of pie!  Ought to be good.
Everyone is raving about the Fish Fry at the Batavia Downs so we went over to try it.  Bob said, "it was very good."  They have an early bird special until 6 o'clock which we missed.  The ponies are back so we watched a couple races, lost money in the slots and left for home.
SATURDAY:
Our day passed quickly.  Shopping at Michael's and the grocery store.  The Starbuck's pie was so good we decided to make two to take to Debbie's house tomorrow.   We swam a couple hours.  Supper was simple chicken on the grill and I'm now back to reading a new book for the rest of the night while Bob watches reruns.
 SUNDAY:
A cooler day today-it doesn't encourage swimming.  So I won't mind going to Lockport today as Christianna wants to have a meeting to go over a few shower details.  I don't know how long we will be so guess I'll post this now.

Have a good week and enjoy our last month of summer.
Thanks for clicking in!

  1. Wow busy week. Love the apple idea. I think they are looking pretty good by the end. Bet no one minded having all those samples! Debbie's table with the tile is so pretty. It will look great around the pool. Thanks for sharing your week with us!
