FISHING, FISHING AND MORE FISHING

MONDAY: October 1, 2012:

We were still in the campground  (Webster, Mass)  that Bob has had on his "bucket list"  since Sarah started to school at Bryant College.  It was a dilapidated, run down place.  It was listed in last year’s old KOA book, not this year's.   When we pulled in to register; the front office area should have sent the message to keep driving.
Over grown foliage, old figuren’s that needed a new paint job etc.  But Bob persisted; he was tired of driving.  He finally found the son of the owner’s; and he checked us in.   As we drove back into campground; junk and dirt was piled up around old,  old campers.  It was spooky looking with all that and the leaves falling.    During the night; we were both scared that we would have an encounter with the “trash people” who lived there.  We slept with one eye open.    We were anxious to leave and did so by 9:30am.  We stopped at Turning Stone Casino area to get diesel fuel ($4.12 a gal.) and had the best cup of coffee and huge donuts.  Bob drove as far as Herkimer KOA.  The little devil had fishing on his mind as we have been here before and there is a nice trout stream which goes by camp.  Okay Bob.

I SNUCK UP BEHIND HIM FOR THE PIC.
THE BIG FISHERMAN

LITTLE CANADA CREEK  A BEAUTIFUL SPOT.

We checked in and after set up; he headed for the stream.  I planned supper late so he could stay out until near dark.   We had pot pies and salad and then Bob stretched out on the floor and was sleeping in no time.  He never changed the channels on cable after turning it on.  I did a load of wash, finished a book and worked on computer before going to bed.  Had to read my grocery store ads, ha!

TUESDAY/October 2, 2012:

Bob woke me up about 9:30; “up n at em”  it’s time to go home!   He had been up since 5:00am and was out in the Little Canada Creek fishing having the best time until he realized that the NY State fishing license’s all expire on September 30th!   He was worried that a “water cop” might check him out.  Just when I wanted to stay another day, figures.
Wow!  Hurry up and dress and pack for take off.  No shower, come on Bob, we have sewer.  Check out was 11am.
I do as I’m told and we hook up.  Check the lights, affirm!  Watch the hitch brackets; they pop as needed.  Bob pulls ahead and the car tires are sliding!  Atu Oh!  What to do?  Usually we work communication with our cell phones; Bob’s cell phone was dead this morning.  I ran to the side of car where he could see me in the mirror; no response.  So I ran around the car again and headed for front door of motor home.  I yelled in, “the car tires are dragging!”   Bob put the MH in park and came back to check car transmission which was in the wrong gear.  Oops!  Haste makes waste.  We stopped at a rest area for a late lunch, Bob took a nap as he was wilting at the wheel.  That 5:00am fishing was catching up to him.   We were home about 3:45 and started the dreaded unloading.  It was a fun trip.
WEDNESDAY:
We brought the wash in and I must have 10 loads for goodness sake.  Next the groceries, we had used up most of them.
My  friend Mo came for coffee.  She asked Bob to fix her Witch which is an outside decoration.  It had fallen apart.  She brought us a couple small pumpkins and some freshly canned hot sauce.
After supper, I opened the mail from the week and put all the bills in the "To Be Paid" folder.  I wasn't concentrating good enough to pay them, so I checked out some e mails and watched some TV.
One of my Blog readers wrote to tell me that Reynolds Co. makes a special plastic bag for crock pots.  Thanks Sukie, I'll check it out.
THURSDAY:
While Bob washed the car and the motor home, I folded and pressed the drip dry clothes from yesterday's washing.  I hang most of Bob's shirts and all his sweat shirts; heaven forbid if I shrink them.  I carried it all out to the motor home and put it away for the next outing.

As I was walking back into the house, I remembered to check the sunflowers.  I have been asking many people when to harvest the seeds.  Last time I checked them the seeds were still white.  Today, they were black and most of them had blown away.  Darn!  So I chopped them off and sat on the porch to shell the remaining seeds for the birds.  Who but a retiree has the time to do that?
Then I sat down to pay bills.  Vacation is fun until you have to pay for it!
We had receipts all in a folder but some were cash,  some were debits, and a few were Master Card which took a little while to straighten out.

With that job finished; it's was time to make supper and the evening just goes.  I don't like it getting so dark so soon now, I hardly have time to check the field for deer after supper.
FRIDAY;
Last night was sleepless-again.  I had a funny dream.  I was in a house/building/ or store making salads to put on this big conveyor belt that went around the building.  A salesman was telling me to buy the system as it was the "peaches in cream" idea for every household.  Dumb Eh?

I also had a revolting development before going to sleep.  I was reading one of the free books on the Ipad, trying to finish it and see how they solved the mystery.  I turned another page and it said, "TO BE CONTINUED IN THE SPRING ISSUE!"   I was bummed.  It's not funny!

I baked cookies today to bring to the Utica/Buf St. football game tomorrow to give to Eric for the bus ride back to Utica.  Donna is also baking for him.

I'm waiting on the guys to get home from fishing.  David, Alex and Bob left about 12:30 to go to Orchard Creek, up towards the lake.  Now 6:30, I'm hungry so guess I'll go eat.  They returned about 7:30pm.  They had eaten somewhere, thank goodness.  Their fish stories are growing, all 3 of them said they had seen fish 3 feet long - all around their feet.  They could see them coming up stream as they swished and swished their bodies, splashing the water.  Well guys, that's quite a fish story.

ALEX READY TO GO.

ALEX & DAVID

FISH WERE ALL AROUND DAVID.

Bob and I watched some TV but he could hardly keep his eyes open after being outdoors all day.
SATURDAY:
A long busy day.  We left home about 10:00 and drove to our son's house where we had coffee and donuts.  At 11:00 we drove to the Buffalo State football field.  The parking lots were already full so we got out and Alex took our car and parked it across the way.

Utica played a good first half, with 2 touchdowns.  The third quarter was disappointing as the Buff team scored 3 touchdowns.  Wake up Utica!
It was very, very windy and cold so I left figuring this wasn't fun.  As I sat in the car I could hear screaming from the football field.  Ah good I thought the game is over.  Not so, it was another hour before the game ended and Utica had come back to life and scored 3 touchdowns in that last quarter.  They won the game and everyone said they couldn't believe it.  We visited with grandson, Eric until he had to board the bus.  Due to his knee surgery, Eric is now a coach and he was spotting for the team until next season when he will be back on the team.

UTICA PIONEERS TEAM - FEAR THE MOOSE!

SEE HOW COLD AND WINDY!
DAVID, DONNA AND I

LOOK AT THAT SCORE.

We then went to the Olive Garden to eat, my favorite place for eggplant parmasan.
The "fishing guys" had coupons for the Orvis store so that was our next stop.  I think we were in there for 2 hours.  If Bob bought something he would show David and then David would have to buy one and vice versa.  Alex noticed that was happening and he told Donna and I so we had the best laugh about it.  Two peas in a pod!  At home a short time and then off to bed.

SUNDAY:
Where do you think I found Bob this morning?  He was going threw all his new purchases from Orvis.  He was sorting and storing them.  I asked if he wanted to go fishing and try the new stuff out so I could see these fish by your feet, ha!  We had lunch and left and I was pleasantly surprised at the location.  Down in a deep ravine there was a fishing camp which is run by the Archers Club of Waterport.

THE MEMBERS COOK BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR THE MEN.
THEY HAVE A MEETING CABIN, A KITCHEN AND A REC ROOM, EVEN JOHNS.
What a beautiful setting.  I put my chair by the creek and watched, wishing I had a video camera.  I counted 17 fishermen on the creek that I could see, standing about 20 feet apart, just a whipping those lines.  It's true, it's true, the fish come swimming up stream just a thrasing and splashing the water.  I couldn't see them around their feet but I could see them near the bank.  Bob said it was frustrating to put the hook in front of their mouth and they wouldn't bite.

THAT'S BOB

SOME YOUNG MAN CAUGHT THESE SALMON AND WAS PULLING THEM UP THE ROAD.
I MEASURED THEM AND THEY WERE 36 & 38 INCHES LONG.

About 4 o'clock it starting raining and that made it cold.  Bob came in from the creek as his shoulders were cold.  We came home to a nice spaghetti dinner waiting to be served.  Thanks to Betsy.

I think I have all my photos in now and I need to run the spell checker before posting.

Hope you have a good week ahead.  Make Memories!  Thanks for clicking in.
