ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

MONDAY:

Another hot one!   No rain is site for the next week; that's bad.

We took the motor home over to the welder this morning.  It was busy out there with people going to work. 
Today, I did our wash and made fried squash for supper.  That's about it.
The motor home was finished about 6:00m.  Bob is pleased.

TUESDAY:
I did some ironing and folding of the drip dry clothes from yesterday.  

Bob  had brought in our canning jars from the shed; so I put them thru the dishwasher.  I needed lids so I went to Tops grocery store.   We had decided to go camping for a week so I bought enough meat.  I like to freeze it before putting in camper refrig...I worry about pulling the temp down.  That's probably not necessary.

After supper, Betsy and I started on the 1/2 bushel of peaches.  We made two batches of peach jam and 13 half pints of sliced peaches.  The hottest day of the year, we are nuts!  They look beautiful.   We love the taste compared to the tin can ones.  And, again I said this is the last time.  It's messy.

WEDNESDAY:
After cleaning up the kitchen from the peach canning mess, the whole day was packing the motor home and getting ready to go on our trip to Canada.

THURSDAY:
We were hooked up and traveling by 9:30am.  We didn't have any problem at the Peace Bridge; they didn't search the bus.  We were relieved.
We drove until 2:00pm when we finally found a service center.  Toronto was wicked; trying to get into another lane to pick up a new route wasn't easy. 
At the service center, a policeman approached the motor home and told Bob that our towing lights had fallen off the top of the Escape and were dangling.  He said, "take them off that our coach lights were working fine."

We arrived at the Barrie KOA about 3:00pm.  It was off the beaten path but very nice and clean.  We had a nice pull thru site.  That evening we relaxed and watched a movie.

FRIDAY:
More driving!  We left about 10:30am  as check in for the next place was later in the afternoon and we only had 200 miles to drive. No hurry!  The last time we were up this way was 19 years ago.  They have put in a new four lane highway (still doing some surfacing)  from Gravenhurst to North Bay.  It by passes all the small towns; no more gift shops etc.  We were disappointed but the driving was better.  We couldn't find any Rest Areas that were posted (maybe future plans) so we stopped at a truck weighing station that was closed to eat lunch. 
Main street of Sturgeon Falls was a surprise!  It was so built up and has fast traffic!  They now have 3 red lights instead of one.  Ha!  There is still a Tim Horton's, I saw a KFC, a Comfort Inn, pizza places.  Mostly boat, four wheeler and ski do sales places. 

GLENROCK CAMPGROUND

After set up at Glen Rock campground, we went back up to Sturgeon Falls for fishing licenses.  We drove around after to look for the the vendors on street corners with  Fish & Chips stands.  Couldn't find any so we ate at this place.  Bob had a Pickerel dinner, I had a cheeseburger.  I'm not into fish.

We came back to camp and fished off the boat piers until dark.  We each caught small ones with stripes.  Who knows what they were.
SATURDAY:
It's cool today, but nice to wake up and hear the waves from lake. I made a pancake and sausage breakfast, packed a lunch and we took off for Moose Point.  Year's ago Grandpa Icy (Rindo) had a cottage on this point.  But first we wanted to check out a brand new KOA campground.  We are paid here at Glen Rock until Monday; no sewer.  The owner said we could move on Monday to a site with sewer but we looked at it today and there isn't any way Bob could get our motor home into that area or that site.  Sites are small and close together; junk piled everywhere around campers and it gives a dirty feeling.  Sooooooooo, we booked the KOA (still in Sturgeon Falls) for Monday and the rest of our stay. 

We drove to Moose Point.  The roads are wider, the bridge at Moose Point entrance is new-no longer wooden rotted planks, and new owners.

The owner met us at the bridge on a four wheeler.  He gave us permission to look around.  Well, Bob talked him down.  They have enhanced the cottages and built a new office building.  They are remodeling a storage building.  It was cooler today with a wind that made Tomiko Lake rough so we will go back tomorrow to rent a boat.  There was a four wheeler path to the cottages beyond the Moose Point ones.  Dad's cabin was back in there and I remember black berry bushes scratching the car sides.  Looks about the same. 
We ate our picnic lunch near a fish hatchery place; it was posted-no fishing!
Back in town, we stopped at the only grocery store that we have seen and bought a few items.  Milk is in a plastic bag! 
Back at camp, I read a book and got sleepy so I took a nap.  When I got up it was time to make something for dinner.  I had pork chops out defrosting.  After clean up, I checked e mails and typed in my Blog.  I hate this lap top!!!!!!!!  I had trouble finding my Blog, had to make a new password.  Hope I can locate it the next time.
Bob went out to fish until dark.  When he came in, he went right to bed.  We're killing ourselves having fun!
SUNDAY:

We spent our day back up to Moose Point.  We rented a boat and tried fishing.  It was hot!  Fish were not hungry!  They are probably real deep.
