FISH, FLOWERS, FAMILY, FUN, FILM, AND FOOTBALL

LAST ROSE OF SUMMER
MONDAY:
My morning was spent taking care of the laundry.  But boy I made up for it the rest of the day.  I have a good book going and I pulled out the old excuse-my legs hurt from climbing the stairs etc.  I made lunch and supper but right back to the book as soon as clean up was done.

I had one heck of a mess in the kitchen. I had a head of cabbage that I wanted to fry.  I got out my machine to cut it and had way to much.  So I shredded the remainder for coleslaw.  I had cabbage pieces all over the place.  That will cure my cabbage taste buds for another year.

Rumor has it the fish are coming in!  The fishermen are calling! Fishing plans are being made so Bob went for his fishing license.

TUESDAY:
Bob was up bright and early.  He was putting on his fishing gear when I went out to the garage in my night clothes to tell him "have fun!"  He had to many clothes on; so he was struggling to get his suspenders up.  I told him to take off the sweatshirt; it isn't that cold.  I also told him my phone is on charge so don't call to early with fish stories.  Just in case he breaks the No Fish On routine.

I finally got up enough gumption to go shop.  I needed a couple deco things from Michael's and I wanted to go through Bed and Bath, then for groceries.  Today is 6% off at Tops.
Bob said they had to be home in time to pick up one of the guy's kids at school, so I deviously planned to arrive home with groceries when Bob was home.  It's tough getting the grub upstairs.  No such luck, I was off by 15 minutes and had the car mostly unloaded.  NO FISH ON!

My friend, Mo,  called while I was in Tops.  We planned a coffee clutch.  She came over about 4:00 and we had a rip roaring visit.  It's a wonder Bob slept thru our noise.

After Mo left, I mixed up the meatloaf.  Of course, this made supper later than usual.  After supper, I spotted one deer out back while on the porch, but crud-it's getting dark so early; the deer are hard to spot then.

WEDNESDAY:
After cleaning today, I sat down to rest a bit.  I shelled some Lupine seeds that my sister Toots had picked for me.
LUPINE PODS

THEY SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS NEXT SUMMER
IF I GET THEM PLANTED.

Betsy has left for the Buffalo airport to pick up Sarah.  She should land about 8:45pm tonight.  As I went thru my paces cleaning house today, I couldn't help but think how nice for Sarah to have 6 weeks vacation; just starting her first year of employment.  I know she hates her job; there's no feedback, no visiting, long hours etc. etc.
I don't remember what vacation I started employment with but you had to work a year to earn one more day.
I do remember enjoying the National Holidays that was given.  It was nice to make a long weekend, or to attach to the vacation.   When we first moved to Stringham Dr. our living room was empty.  I always thought about shopping for furniture then.  Bob used to live in fear of what I might buy on those days off.  He was told at work that just because the County gives those days off; don't expect it there.
Just recently while visiting at Rocky's birthday party and seeing the new theater furniture there, everyone was ogling and wanting the same.   Betsy made a remark that my living room chairs have to be 40 years old.  Whoa Bets, not quite.  25 for sure.  She never included the end tables which are definitely 40 years if they are a day.   I didn't update the furniture as I thought we would down size and then the excuse was after the dog...just didn't happen.
THURSDAY:
I was the last person up today; Bob and Sarah were yakking big time downstairs.  I joined them and caught up to the conversation while Sarah cleaned her jewelry.  She and Betsy have beauty shop apps. and then are going to see the newlyweds' apartment.

Bob has the car nearly waxed, he has the tires to do yet.  So today he wanted to paint the chimney.  So I helped with holding the ladder.  Big of me ahe?  I watered my plants, cut some of them back for winter, and just hung out to watch him on the roof.

BOB PAINTING THE CHIMNEY.

We watched the Bill's and Brown's game on channel 17.  I have a new rookie to follow-TRAVIS BENJAMIN #80 on the Brown's team!  Boy, did he make action on the field.  I loved it!  My football knowledge is limited but I enjoyed his antics.
FRIDAY:
It's raining, it's pouring!  And the Old Man is snoring!  In this case, it's the Old Woman!  I finished another book last night and then checked out PBS...I ended up watching a documentary about volcanoes in Ice Land.  3:00am rolled right around.  Today not so ambitious and half the day is gone.
Sarah has the our truck for appointments, so we are house bound.  I love it when she is home; I see the latest fashions when they come home from shopping, I hear about the new movies, cell phone features and etc.

AND HER NEW DR. MARTIN BOOTS

Oh, the library called, the movie I wanted to take camping is in.  I had another but it was a big mix up with the title so I'm anxious to pick this one up.  When I had my knee replaced, Sarah put it on our laptop computer to watch as I couldn't go downstairs yet.  It's a musical called Chicago.  Bob hates musicals so no use asking him to watch it.
SATURDAY:
After breakfast, I drove to the library and picked up the movie.
Betsy and Sarah left for shopping before the get together.  We putzed around and then showered and left for Eastern Hills Mall too.  We had about thirty five minutes so we each ran to the stores.  Bob to Orvis (fishing store) and myself to Bon Ton.  Bon Ton was having discount coupons for old clothes brought in and it was packed, 10-15 people at check outs.  No thank you to that waiting period.

We all were to meet at Dave & Buster's (D&B) at 4:30pm.   It's an Eat, Drink, Play and Watch Sports place.  Wow! The noise!  It's a different type of- "I'll get your money!"  Loads of video games for young and old and it was busier than a casino.

I'VE NO IDEA WHAT THIS DID
BUT LOTS OF COINS IN IT.

THE FOOD WAS GOOD
LOOK AT THE SIZE OF DONNA'S
CHICKEN SALAD

We rushed to get to the theater on time; we went to see THE BUTLER.  It's about a butler that worked in the White House for eight presidents.  At the end, we were both disappointed as to our expectations.  The story was more about his whole life than life at the big house.  There was lots of Civil Rights involved.  I expected to see beautiful decorations for Christmas, more on the choices of china and beautiful set tables, redecorating with each of the elected wives of presidents...Nadda!  Oprah was very good.  I had trouble understanding Forrest.  But then I'm losing the hearing in my old age.  It was good but I wouldn't go see it again.  We topped off the evening at Tim Horton's with David & Donna.

SUNDAY:
More rain!  Betsy & Sarah scurrying around getting showers-packing.  They left about 9:15 for the airport.

I started to print photos for the refrigerator.  I'm tired of the fish pictures.  Bob and I both had problems with the photos; the white borders.  After so many tries, I just printed them-however-white borders or not.  It depends on whose camera and how big the pixels are, I guess.

This afternoon it's quite, everyone watching football, ha!

Talking football...Our grandson, Eric,  is now out of the game with the recent injury to the same leg as surgery last year.  He is grossly into Fantasy Football with a team and all.  Look at the cute home made trophy he has.

Betsy did her nails for this week.  Cute!

Now she is in the kitchen making our dinner...Chicken Florentine.
VERY GOOD!

Time to wrap this up and go join the fans in the living room.  Hope you have a good week.   Thanks for clicking in.
