OUR CLEMATIS VINE. IT LOOKED LIKE A PILLOW LAST YEAR WITH SO MANY FLOWERS. |
Just an old fashioned day! NO EXCITEMENT TO PLAN FOR.
I had an eye appointment in the morning for new glasses following the cataract surgery. Much to my surprise, there wasn't a co-pay. I couldn't believe it! The exam was included in the surgery. Wonders never cease.
I worked on the Blog most of the afternoon, as we had 500 some pics again with the whole family clicking away during the graduation weekend. I need to put them in order and a folder on this mac thing.
I put the suitcases, fancy shoes, purse, etc. away. Cleaned up the bedroom where we had just dropped everything.
Going thru the mail; we have two more event invitations. Busy summer!
The pool has hunks of crude floating on top! Oh, oh.
EVERYTHING BLOOMS AT ONCE. OUR PEONIES |
I gathered up the dry cleaning, prepared some mail as Bob offered to take care of it on his trip across town. He took a sample of pool water to be tested and came home with a load of chemicals, guess it's not a good idea to wait to open it so late. He is tuckered out now, doesn't even want lunch. That's unusual!
I finished some gift wrapping. Have the ironing starring at me to do.
We had a request from friends to watch America's Got Talent as a friend's daughter and dance group was suppose to be on. We sat thru the two hours and we never saw them.
Then we went to bed.
WEDNESDAY:
We prepared for a trip to Rochester. (another light treatment) While there we purchased a baby gift for a shower coming up in July. I hate to wait to long as the ideas go off the registry pretty quick.
On the way home we stopped at Harrington's veggie stand an bought some local strawberries. The season is almost over and this was our first quart. I made a pan of shortcake and cleaned the berries. Hate to turn the oven on when it's so hot upstairs but for shortcake..yes mam! Bob didn't bother with a little dish, he spread the short cake out on his dinner dish...I just looked at him. Of course he has whipped cream too.
BOB DUG THIS THISTLE/BURDOCK OUT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT BELONGS THERE. HA! |
I want to work outside. I haven't even enjoyed the nice weather yet. So after breakfast, I just closed my eyes to the house work and out I went. I pulled all the weeds around the shed and now have it ready to put in plants.
I cut the greens off the top of the daffodils.
THEY ARE GOING DOWN! |
CHOPPED OFF GREENS |
I've been watching for the seeds that I planted last fall to show up but I didn't see a one. Must be the animals ate them all during the hard cold winter. They ate the bulb out of two other Yucca plants that we have...it looks like a palm leaf and produces a spike with white bells on it. Luckily, it's spreading sprouts from the bottom so guess I haven't lost it completely. I wish I had the money that I have spent on the yard over the 45 years...moola!!!
That job done, I came in and I started making chicken noodle soup as Betsy is very sick with a sinus infection. Too much air conditioning on our trip...on the last plane home out of Atlanta, all three of us froze! She went to the Dr's yesterday and today she stayed home from work. She doesn't want to be sick next week during the wedding.
We had the soup for lunch and then all three of us took a short nap. Bob and I then went to Home Depot for plants. We also drove out to Dave's Ice Cream stand to buy some frozen sundaes on a stick. Dairy Queen calls them Nutty Buddies. Oh, so good, what a treat.
ME - CRAWLING AROUND ON MY HIP TO PLANT. THE KNEES DON'T WORK TO GOOD. |
NOW WATCH THOSE LITTLE CHIPMUNKS CLIP THE MARIGOLDS OFF! I'LL KILL EM! |
I cleaned the upstairs. One could see a trail on the floor where the dinning room chairs were pulled back to sit on. That's bad. Well, we have been busy. Then this morning, the bathroom mirror is all spotted with soap, maybe toothpaste. Put your head down when brushing please!
Bob had made arrangements with a company to bring top soil for the back yard. They were here by 10:30 a.m. Near the north fence the ground tipped downward and the John Deere threatened to tip. It was scary! Bob and Betsy had put up with it for long enough. Two trailer loads were put out. The men worked for six hours; they even seeded it for us. What a relief not to have to do it. It looks so nice now.
FIRST LOAD OF TOP SOIL |
FOUR MEN WORKED ABOUT 4 HOURS |
THREE MEN DID THE FINISHING AND SEEDING 2 MORE HOURS STILL A LITTLE SLOOP BUT NOT SO DANGEROUS THIS JOB WOULD HAVE KILLED US. |
SATURDAY:
Well work hard one day and loaf the next. I didn't accomplish much today...grocery run and cooking. I picked up a gift bag so I wrapped the small presents to put in it.
Bob on the other hand has been going non stop out in the yard. The pool has finally cleared and Bob could see the reading glasses that David dropped by accident last Sunday, so he retrieved them.
No Great Grand baby yet. I've had back ache a couple days now, maybe sympathy pains for Christianna. Any time now. She can't wait to get it over as she is very uncomfortable.
SUNDAY:
We were all up early. Bob was out watering the grass seed and flowers. Betsy and I started a big pot of spaghetti. We are tired of chicken and steak...haven't had spaghetti in freezer for some time now. Ya know, it's not a cheap meal any more. But then we make a big batch. Grated cheese is right up there. It's my favorite meal so who cares!!
WE USE PIECES OF PORK AND SAUSAGE LINKS FOR FLAVOR. IN ADDITION TO THE MEATBALLS. |
THAT'S LIVING! I WAIT ALL YEAR FOR GOOD WEATHER AND ENJOYING THE POOL. |
And on to the next week! Hope you have a good one. Thanks for clicking in.
