TUESDAY: May 27th
We are in the packing mode again.  Bob decided that we would go to the Holiday Rambler, Region 1 camp out/meeting in Canada.  (8 states make up Region 1) We are going to a place called Quint's Isle.  We have to cross into Canada above Watertown and drive west  90 miles, then south and we will be on an island.  The camp ground is on the shores.
HERE'S OUR TRIP PLANS

Along with folding laundry to pack, I dug into the closet and pulled a few items for the garage sale on June 8th.  Did anyone else see the closet tip on FB?  Put your hangers on the rod backwards.  If you haven't removed them in a year's time to wear the article, you don't need it.

WEDNESDAY:
We went to Rochester again, there are so many stores  there that I was able to pick up several necessities.
For the camp out this weekend, we are to bring a Teddy Bear to donate to the Firemen for their cause.   We went into Toys R Us and picked out a cute one.  But no clothes on it.  So we went to Babies R Us and I found the cutest preemie outfit; decorated in summer prints. The bear looks so much cuter.

CUTE ENOUGH TO KEEP.

We went to Lowe's and Target too.
Once home we had coffee, then went for groceries to put in the motor home.
Then I wanted to put the plants in that I got at Lowe's.  Bob had trouble starting the rototiller, I was about ready to dig up the spot with a shovel.
I also had to get the Basil and Parsley planted for use in salads.  It was cool out.

THURSDAY:
We drove up to the college parking lot to hook up the tow car.  We were on the road by 9:30, and Bob says he wants to stop in 20 minutes at the first rest area to check out the tow.  Okay Bob.  He has his own little regime.
We bussed the thruway and stopped again to do the check.  (I guess, He is nervous)  We weren't hungry yet so decided to drive to first rest stop on Route 81 above Syracuse.  Ha, Ha there wasn't a rest area there!  But it's on the maps.  On we go.
Lunch further up the road, Watertown and then the bridges, OMG!  THEY WERE STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR!  I couldn't stand to look.  I covered my face with the maps.  They were skinny!  I give all the drivers who cross here credit for their skills.  Then another bridge, same thing, with a 45o turn at the base.  Hoya! Hoya!
Then drive west about 90 miles, we arrived at the camp (Quinte's Isle) about 6:00 p.m.  We were greeted by the parking committee and the OP State Mgr.  She insisted that we park on our site and bring table ware and come to the pot luck.  We did.  Our site was horrible, big trees each side of lot but one guy helped Bob with directions to back in.  Thank God or we would have been divorced trying!!!
After dinner, we had to match numbers on the table to find our group for a quiz on traveling the UNITED STATES.  Bob and I didn't excel on this, we haven't seen all the "wonders" of the states after having campers since 1968!

FRIDAY:
Bob registered at the camp office.  He signed up and paid $17.00 for Internet which was for one item only.

We had a bus tour of the island.  (school bus)  We left at 10:30 and returned around 4:00p.m.  Too much!  Bob couldn't keep his knees within seating area, seats were to narrow.  We had a lunch at a local town hall provided by the ladies on committee.  The other stop was at a cheese store where most of us bought ice cream.
At 4:30 p.m. the Picton Fire Dept. made a presentation on safety.   We are to put telephone, wallet or purse, glasses, teeth, what have you bedside in case of fire.  We should practice going out the bed room safety window.  That would be a sight to see.  It would be a big drop.  We gave our Teddy Bears to the fireman.
A bbq dinner followed.  Some members put on a skit dressed like a "kitchen band with kitchen utensils."  Ice cream topped off the evening.

KITCHEN BAND

We then drove down to the camp ground beach, we heard there was a Blue Grass Festival down there.  Tickets were $8.00 each and the bands were only playing until 9:00, so we didn't go on in.  But tents, fifth wheels, motor homes, were jammed in with inches between them.  Huge attendance.  The ticket person said everyone was a musician...imagine that.
Back at the camper, Bob tried to sign my phone up for Internet.  He went to our friends-twice-for assistance.  It just wouldn't work.  Our son had called and requested pictures of our driver's license to send to Alex so we will be registered to go on base without waiting for hours in line.  We fly to Enid, OK, on June 12th.  Frustrated!!!!

SATURDAY:
There was a council meeting, pegs &  jokers tournament, catered turkey & stuffing dinner, speakers and a band for evening entertainment today.
My highlight was crafts!  You could sign up to make a cross, a rose, or cards!

THIS CAN BE CHANGED TO A SNOW SCENE
DOBBER USE FOR BACK GROUND

I choose cards and we made two.    I learned how to use dobbers to color the background of a scene.  Dobbers are finger tip fitted sponge pieces that you tap on the ink pad.  Really comes out pretty.  We also punched holes as an outline around the scene.  Now to make more at home requires spending $$$$ for the stamps.  It's worth it as it's so much fun!
That afternoon we went back down to the Blue Grass Festival for two hours.  They had about 20 bands that rotated performances, on a stage of a semi trailer.  It was cold sitting there with the breeze off the lake but we enjoyed it very much.

BLUE GRASS FESTIVAL
LOTS OF PICKING AND STRUMMING GOING ON!

We spotted another Internet tower on the beach area so I tried sending the photos again, it worked!   We eventually found out that the Internet would not work within our motor home, where it did for others.  ???  If I sat outside, it may or may not work.  I was beyond frustrated!
Well, you try an unplugged weekend.  Ha.

Some how or other the picture of the airplane that our grandson, Alex, will be assigned to came thru.

KC 135 TANKER
comparable to a 747 passenger
After graduation and more training he will be assigned a base in Wichita.

Oh, you know how everyone always complains about being the last table called to go to the food line.  Well, at the turkey dinner, the OP Mgr. asked us all to bring a quarter to dinner, which was collected.  Then she announced that the first table called would loose their money but the last table called would get the "pot!"   Members had fun with it, they were offering to anti-up to be the last table.  Our table won and the six of us donated the pot to MAKE A WISH.  At the end of the rally, it was announced that $375.00 was made on basket sales etc., to be donated to MAKE A WISH.  MAKE A WISH is Holiday Ramblers favorite charity.  We also support the Scholarship Fund for member off spring education.

SUNDAY:
The agenda was a big breakfast, golf, cooking school, closing ceremonies and card bingo.

Our curiosity was peaked since everyone talked about the Sand Dune Park and Bob wanted to see it.  So I packed a picnic and Bob packed chairs and away we went.  It was beautiful, comparable to our favorite place-Sherkston Beaches.

SUN SHINE BUT COOL

DUNES

MORE DUNES

We stayed and watched people, their dogs, and read magazines, maybe two hours.  A beautiful day and guess who can prove it with a sun burn?  RAR! His ankles are pretty pink.

THE WATER WAS FREEZING

MONDAY:
After hospitality, (coffee & donuts) hugs and tears, pack up your troubles and come along with me...we started home.  It was shorter to come home by way of Toronto and many had assured us it was a snap, just stay in the Express lane.    We did our homework going over the maps, and I had it all jogged down.  Well, shake, rattle and roll, Toronto was horrible!  I couldn't even hear Gypsy (our GPS) as the noise was unbelievable with 5 or more lanes and passing semis etc.   All of a sudden, Bob is exiting.  I yelled, what are you doing?  Gypsy told him to exit.  I said not yet, it doesn't match our map layout.  It dumped us into the local traffic, delivery trucks etc.  It wasn't a snap, easy peasy, or fun!
Later we had a 5 mile back up as a semi had caught on fire and rescue trucks, wreckers etc. had to clear the road.  The bridges coming home were big and wide and not so high, thank goodness.  Bob says, It was 27 miles shorter.  Not worth it Honey!!  I should have kept my mouth shut about the tall bridges bothering me.

YEAH, THE USA!
LEWISTON BRIDGE CUSTOMS
TUESDAY:So here we are at home.  The clean up begins; Bob is out washing the car, I'm Blogging while doing the wash.  Sorry to be late again, but without Internet and trying to do all on the schedule while there...it just didn't get done.
Looking ahead to this week; we still haven't opened the pool as Bob is waiting for a windless day to spray the cement, and we have a huge street garage sale this coming weekend.  Betsy had a table full pulled out of the shed already.  So lots to get ready.

I'VE HAD THESE SAND TOYS FOR YEARS FOR THE KIDS,
BETSY SAYS IT'S TIME TO PUT THEM IN THE GARAGE SALE!
ALL THE ARMY MEN AND HOT WHEEL CARS...BOO HOO!

Hope the customers don't fight in the street and police have to be called-true story-they fight over who would back up as it gets down to one lane with parking on both sides.
So, have a good week everyone and once again thanks for clicking in.
