HARPER'S FERRY AREA, WV and IVES RUN Tioga, PA

MONDAY:
Oh what a beautiful day!  We are rested up and schedules/programs are a thing of the past...yeah!  We are at Harper's Ferry Area to scout around and see what there is to see.
A Bear went over the mountain!  Glad they are behind us.  Our trip here was good.  No trouble with the Brake Buddy; the sensitivity instructions given worked.  Internet here is good!!! We had poor reception at the building at fair grounds; to many people with the same idea.
We drove to the visitor's building to find out the locations to go see.  Many museums, small shops and eateries down by the two rivers that join in this valley.

POTOMAC AND SHENANDOAH RIVERS JOIN AT HARPER'S FERRY

We were somewhat disappointed as the museums did not have much inventory.

Except for a book store that had modern books for sale.  I picked up a small book on the Underground Railroad.   I wanted to see if the houses in Conneaut, Ohio were mentioned in the history.   When we lived there it was rumored that the slaves came up the creek, climbed the banks to a big yellow octagon home to hide.

We had lunch at Potomac Grill.  It was delicious and we didn't need a full meal for supper.   Everything there is on a steep hill.  It was hard enough walking on the cobblestone sidewalks, never mind up hill.

STEPS C0MING DOWN HILL TO PARKING LOT
Coming back to camper, Bob drove to a battlefield and we saw the cannons used.  Neither one of us can understand how they had a war in this terrain, hard to believe with all the valleys and forests.

That evening, three deer came up the hill to graze near our campsite.

TUESDAY:
Our main goal today was driving half way to Ives Run in Tioga, PA.  While Bob was putting the utilities back in coach, he ran into the slide outs with his head.  He came in the coach with his hand covering the top of his head.  Oh boy.  He had a one inch gash and was bleeding pretty fast.  No way was he going to ER, find the bandaids.  Okay Bob.

HARD HAT NEEDED

By the time we were half way on our journey, it was to early to check in and to early to get off the road for the day.  Bob decided to keep going, then stop at the Turkey Ranch for a meal, then continue on to Ives Run.  Turkey Ranch is on Rt. 15 in PA.  A favorite place as we are never disappointed.    Bob drove over to the fuel island and topped the tanks with diesel.  $3.89.

FULL PLATE
We continued on up Rt. 15.  On the biggest hill there was construction, down to one lane on both sides of road-for a long ways!    Bob slowed way down.  I asked what's wrong?  He said, "nothing-IT'S DAM SKINNY!"
Arriving at Ives, the office was closed.  We drove thru to our reserved  camp site and it was empty so we parked.  It's quite and beautiful here.
WEDNESDAY:
We went up to the office to register.  The attendant said, "The Leaf Peepers" are here.    Color is not full yet but leaves are falling all over.  I borrowed a paper back from their library.
Four of our expected campers pulled in and parked.  We enjoyed a cocktail hour with a unknown couple (Holiday Rambler owners) that Bob had waved to on our way in to parking area.  Pete came over and tried to help Bob with computer problem and then he invited us to their site.  Very nice people, they are headed to Rochester for a performance by their grand child at Eastman School of Music.
After supper, we stayed in as Bob had developed the chills.  I was happy, happy to have time to sew again.  I have 20 quilt blocks done now.  I have to get brave enough to start sewing them together.

THURSDAY:
Pretty cool here, Bob turned on the furnace.  We were advised to go downtown to a library for better internet service.  Bob has been trying to send an article to the Holiday Ramblings magazine and it goes in the out box.  We were just about ready to leave and our friend, Pam offered to help.  She needed to finish walking the boys,  Rosco and Murphy then feed them and she would come over.

PAM, ROSCO AND MURPHY
PAM TAUGHT HER  DOGS  SIGN LANGAGE
PAM WORKED AT RIT WITH DEAF INDIVADUALS
Pam knew the problem and started hunting for the correct place to fix it.  Before long she was clapping her hands and was done.  She had to reconfigure something.  Yeah, Pam, you are our hero!
Bob sat and watched the e-mails go out.  Red letter day, the HR article went.
Since we were all spiffyed up we went downtown for a few errands.  I spotted a quilt shop and Bob found parking at their  front door.  It was almost closing time but I saw enough fabric to make me drool. They had layer cakes-10" blocks, charm packs-5" blocks and jelly rolls-2.5" rolls in beautiful Christmas prints.  I'm slowly learning the quilting language. Fall prints were all over and a sale was going on.   I want to go back to the store before going home.  I must keep reminding myself, I started this to use up fabric, not buy more.
We drove back to camp, looking for wood for sale for a campfire.  We found wood and dropped it off near the group.
Another couple from Rochester drove in while I was making supper.  I was excited to get done and go to the fire side to visit.  Our first campfire and it's the end of camping season.  It was damp and cold, Bob hadn't dressed warm enough so we came back like in an hour.  So be it.
Some time during all this, Bob received word that the editorial staff couldn't print the article as we had the August article on file waiting to be printed.  What?  Only one article per Chapter, per issue, could we combine the two.  Needless to say, Bob was urked and it put a damper on our evening.  He did not want the articles combined.
FRIDAY:
This morning I was up early and turned on the furnace.  It's cool. 50o. I booted up Hot Spot and watched another tutorial by Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Shop.  I was really looking for an advertisement out of a quilting magazine that I have.  Now crafter's are making pillow covers to donate to needy, sick, young and elderly.  There is a contest to enter for a count of finished product, plus patterns to download.  (Not interested in that)  I stumbled onto Jenny on that site and watched her make a pillow case.  This lady is so smart.  Now I can use up bigger pieces of scraps, if I can color coordinate the scraps that I have.  www.allpeoplequilt.com/milliompillowcases

More campers pulled in, we now have four units from Chapter 12 and 6 units from Chapter 1 of Rochester.  We walked around greeting them all.  About three thirty, all the small cars lined up to take twenty people to a restaurant in downtown Wellsboro for fish fry.  It is about fifteen miles away.  Parking is limited because of all the hills here.
Back at camp, Bob went to check where the campfire would be tonight.  There wasn't one.  We watched some TV.

 SATURDAY:
The morning was cool again.  We got ready to go back down to Wellsboro.  Bob left me off at the Quilt Shop and went looking for wire to hook up a car plug for the Brake Buddy so he would have a direct connection to battery that didn't turn off when key is removed.
I had such a good time in quilt shop looking around.  So many quilts and made so perfect it was hard to believe.  The attendant helped me figure out the amount of material needed for a border, binder and backing.  She was very encouraging.   I enjoyed looking at all the kits, so pretty.

BEAUTIFUL COLORS OF FABRIC
Leaving Wellsboro we took a ride hunting another camp ground listed on brochure for Ives Run.  It was a state park too.  We found it but the camping sites were closed off so we couldn't look at them.  The fishing area was open so we drove around there.  Okay Bob, I've had enough.  I fell asleep on the way back to camp.

Bob and a friend installed the "plug" and I putzed until time to make supper.  I swept the leaves away from our door.  I visited with next door neighbors from our chap that are Full Timers.  We did have a nice campfire tonight, our first and last of the season.  It was cold, beautiful three quarters moon.  Temp to go down to 30's tonight.  Bet our water lines freeze.

OUR SON, DAVID SENT PICS SATURDAY NIGHT OF HAIL BACK IN NEW YORK.

SUNDAY:
During the morning, we prepared dishes to pass at a brunch for our group.

Lots of good dishes and great conversations.  After we packed to start home.  20 days on the road is over!  Yeah!  We had a wonderful time and now we face the motor home winterization.

Thanks for clicking in and here's hoping you come back again.
