TIME TO DECORATE! THANKSMASS, ELFSTER AND SNOW! THROW BACK RETRO!

MONDAY:
Well, hang on to your hat!  The storm moved in about 11:30pm last night and it's still pretty windy outside now.  I don't see any damage, thank goodness.  No power loss.  Snow promised by late this afternoon.

Today I'm the birthday gal.  I have had many good wishes on my phone and on Face Book.  Thanks everyone.  Nice to wake up and see all the comments.  I'm working on a good day.

Betsy promised to pick up a pizza.  Bob has been more than helpful, offering to make a big breakfast...let me wake up please.  Bob wanted to get me an ice cream cake at the store yesterday.  I had to tell him that I don't really like them, they are grossly over rated.  Give me a good brownie, scoop of ice cream and some hot fudge...I'm happy.
GOODIES!

TUESDAY:
Still a bit windy.
A few pick up things to do and then get ready to drive to Lockport for a beauty shop appointment.  I'm having a perm so hope it holds the "lift" better.

I want to spray my UGLY pine trees (ugly because they are cheap-few branches)  first.  I'll be working on making the tree that we saw at Christmas In The Country craft show with snow and Cardinals.  It was pretty.

The hair appointment went well, we stopped for coffee with Debbie afterwards.  She has three beautiful trees up all ready; a glass tree, a Disney tree and I don't  know what the third one is called.  She has her Dept. 56 houses out.  The front door and pillars are all done.  Debbie Do!  Everything looks beautiful.

DEBBIE'S FRONT DOOR
SHE USED THE NETTING RIBBON  TO WRAP THE PILLARS
THAT IS ON SO MANY WREATHS NOW.

We drove home and had a late supper.  I did some computer work and Bob watched his TV stories.

WEDNESDAY:
After getting up, I looked for deer and birds-nothing.  Seems after the first gun shot is heard-no deer!   We do have flocks and flocks of geese coming and going in the back field.  I tried counting them and gave up...must be 3-4 hundred as the field is black with them.
I had three greeting cards to get out so I took time to do that.  Then it was pick up around house until time for shower and go to Rochester for  shopping and when all said and done, headed home before it was dark.
I made Sloppy Joe's for supper, watched the game shows, conked out for a nappie, then went out in the garage to work on my UGLY trees.

UGLY TREES
BOB WANTS SNOW ON HIS OUTDOOR STUFF TOO!

ALL SPRAYED WITH SNOW

LOOKING BETTER ALREADY!

THURSDAY:
Today with a full head of steam, I started digging in all the storage.  I have decorations packed under the stairs, out in the garage, and in the shed out back.  It's late to be putting up Thanksgiving things but I knew I had them and wanted to see where.
I FOUND THE PILGRIMS

THIS SET WE MADE DURING OUR CRAFTING DAYS.
BACK THEN, I WAS VERY GOOD ON MY HEGNER SCROLL SAW.
I PAINTED THE FLAT COATS AND BETSY DID DETAILS.
BOB DID ALL THE BIG CUTS ON THE  BAND SAW.
A LITTLE BIT OF RETRO
MADE BY SARAH 1998-1999 SCHOOL YEAR
SHE WAS PROBABLY 8 YEARS OLD.
HER INDIAN PEOPLE
SO CUTE!
ON MY KITCHEN SHELF
SO SHE WILL BE SURE TO SEE THEM WHEN SHE GETS HOME TUESDAY.

It's an effort to move in the stairs storage as I have to be careful with my "steel" knee-it hurts to kneel on.  If I wasn't so fat it would help too.  Once in there, I had to open and look at everything...entertainment!  Out in the garage, we didn't put the same items in the correctly marked tubs last year so that was a pain.  Live and learn! Dig, dig, dig.

I have the house decorated in half Thanksgiving and half Christmas.  Hoya, hoya!  The Snow Birds celebrate Christmas with their families on Thanksgiving and call it Thanksmass.  Bet they don't decorate to much before taking off.

HERE'S A SANTA I MADE IN MANY DIFFERENT COLORS.
THEN I COULDN'T FIND THE MOPS FOR THE BEARD ANYMORE.
THIS LITTLE SANTA SOLD LIKE HOT CAKES!
FRIDAY:
Today I concentrated on putting up my Dept. 56 houses.  It takes forever just to unpack them.  Bob put up a new 5' electric strip and secured it down so I didn't have to keep pulling on an extension cord.
I broke the marshmallow stick off one Santa and Bob took that to the garage to  drill the hole better.  He chipped the mittens but at least it's fixed.

COCA COLA HOUSE
GRINCH HOUSE
I had these two houses up and had to start supper.  After Betsy helped me put the rest up.   Then she wanted to bring in her tree and put it down stairs this year.  She put the lights on and it's ready for ornaments-tomorrow.

SATURDAY:
What an ugly day!  Cold, windy and snow.
I spent a good deal of time on the computer trying to figure out how this Elfie (Elfster) program works that Debbie found and suggested that the family use to exchange names for gifts.
I had trouble getting the program to accept a user name and password.  I called David and Debbie for help.  When that finally happened, I was good to go!  Yeah, if Grandma can do it, the rest of the crew ought to be able.
Not so, Bob had trouble too, I tried to help him but he clicks the mouse to fast and it's very tiring to redo directions!

I even posted my picture on the site.  The program lets you create your wish list.  It even takes you to sites and transfers the pic of item you would like and info back to your list.  We can read each members wish list.

I was so excited, that I just kept adding things.  Oh, by the way family, I only want Clark bars for my stocking; not a box of 100.  I couldn't find just one candy bar!

After being tired of sitting at the computer, I had Bob bring in the boxes of the Disney Loony Tune houses so I could get them put up.
He also brought in the 1/2 trees for the living room wall.
THIS IS BOB'S IDEA OF HELPING ME DECORATE!
Always joking!

I didn't quite finish with the Loony Tune houses when we decided to go out for supper as we both wanted spaghetti.  So over to L.B. Grand in Leroy we drove in this horrible weather.  The restaurant was not busy, no waiting for a table.

SUNDAY:
Clear morning!  Checking out the snow received, looks like the wind was worse than the amount of snow.  It really blew!

OUT OF OUR WINDOW
After getting up, I finished the Loony Tune house display.

DISNEY LOONY TUNE HOUSES
Then the stockings were hung!  We need two more this year for Mark and Erin.  Everyone buys one stocking gift for each person with a $10.00 limit.  If a person is lucky, you can receive a hand full of gift cards.

After lunch, I unwrapped the ornaments for Betsy's tree while she put them on the tree.  It's always fun to look at the ornaments and remember where we traveled to buy them, many states.

ALL BETSY'S AND SARAH'S ORNAMENTS

So goes my week and I imagine everyone else is in the same mode.  Now to switch over to Thanksgiving again.  We are going to Debbie's, I'm bringing cheesy potatoes, creamed green beans, and date nut bread.  They are running a Turkey Trot  for charity in the morning.  God Bless them all!   I love to see the costumes on the news!   I hope someone feeds the people who have lost their homes across America.

Hope everyone has a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanks for clicking in.
